BSD claims to provide ‘Big City, Big Opportunities’ but now the Sinarmas Company is taking the word ‘big’ one step further. This time instead of advertising the ‘Biggest’ Sinarmas is taking ‘quality’ into a new arena - yes quality education. Sinarmas will build a school of renowned quality not only through an enriched, very different learning designed building but Sinarmas World School (SWS) will offer an International Education at a standard of the highest caliber.

The project investment will be very evident when the first section of the building is completed in April 2008. The new school facilities will capitalize on, daily, best practice using the school design; a flexible space work environment that will promote project based, cooperative learning through interdisciplinary instruction. This different kind of learning experience uses space creatively which maximizes individual development.

Highly trained and experienced expatriate and Indonesian teachers will be employed to implement the International Baccalaureate programme as well as making the most of the rich cultural characteristics of Indonesia and Asia.

Recruiting for teachers overseas and in Indonesia has commenced. The school will be available to expatriate and Indonesia students. Initially Sinarmas World School will open July 2008 K – grade 4. From July 2009 SWS will be completed to take students K – 12. The main language of instruction will be English yet Bahasa Indonesia will be taught rigorously to maintain and value the predominate mother tongue. Mandarin will also be a mandatory subject. All five main religions will be available and taught by trained Agama teachers; the content will support the integrated IB programme. SWS will encourage strong parent involvement as well as implementing an exemplary reading programme (linking school and home) for all students K – 4.
The K – 4 buildings, library, the performing arts theatre and junior pool will be completed by July   2008.
